Fernando Pacheco is a New York photographer-artist whose work has been described as "surreal" and "intensely provocative". Born in Santiago Chile his family brought him to the Big Apple as just a baby and together they lived the classic story-book immigrant experience.
Along the way Fernando was surrounded with influences from Art, Science, Music, Mysticism, and Philosophy; these early experiences would influence his artwork in the years to come.
He picked up his first camera at the age of eight, it was a novelty camera purported to be smaller than the roll of film itself, but it ignited a life-long passion for capturing imagination. At the age of 13 Fernando began using his first SLR and the age of artistic experimentation began. A few hundred batches of "Lunch Money" were saved up and soon there was a second camera, a tripod, lenses, strobes, and a hell of a lot of film.
It was at this point that the 'Dot-Com' bubble was in full swing. University was just on the horizon and artistic passions were pushed aside for more 'practical' careers. In 2003 he graduated from Long Island University with a BFA in Digital Arts & Design.
Under a program led by International Artist John Fekner and design expert Patrick Aievoli, he learned fundamentals of color, composition, style, and concept. Studying under these masters of their craft created a fundamental shift in the way Fernando would percieve the world. This was key in developing the ideas that would be used in his later bodies of work.
From 2003 to 2006 he worked in the graphic design field sharpening his skills in composition and conceptualization while building business acumen. It wouldn't be long before the corporate world would yield to the artistic world.
2006 led to his first ever switch to digital photography and a rekindled passion for capturing bits of imagination. Moving to Wilmington, North Carolina would prove an endless source of inspiration and new opportunities for artistic experimentation.
By April of that year Fernando had shot his first model, and three months later would win the North Carolina Voter Education Board's #1 Pick for his 'Go Vote' Campaign. Wilmington would continue to influence the artist until 2008 when Fernando returned to New York to take his art to the next stage.
2008 would be responsible for a series of iconic shoots that would cement the artist's photographic voice. It was then that he realized the importance of returning to lost passions and pursuing impossible dreams.
Beginning in the New Year, Fernando has begun to explore other styles and concepts in photography as well as build a business model around his unique style.
Fernando currently resides in New York and continues to build his portfolio in glamour, artistic nude, and art photography. He is currently building his freelance business and manages several websites.
